A Week in Art #3

Since it is a new year, I decided to post some new age designs and such.

Wave Door by Matharoo Associates

The door is a 17 foot tall door made from 40 pieces of Burmese teak. The door uses a counterweight, 80 ball bearings and 160 pulleys to work. I find the design and just overall look of this door amazing. I really would like to see it in person. For more info and pictures go to Billionaire Boys Club Blog's post about it, or the Matharoo Associates website.

Sophie by Atelier Xavier Veilhan

This piece of art is just amazing. It is a giant statue of a girl, one of his friends, that he made. This is not just the torso. this statue was actually built through the floor, from the floor below. To see more pictures of the project, go to the page on his website here. Also, check out the other work by Veilhan at Veilhan.net.

Those are just two things I have found recently. Stay tuned for the next A Week in Art.
