R.I.P. Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan

Jim "The Rev" Sullivan

As 2009 comes to an end, the deaths do not. Today, I learned that the drummer of Avenged Sevenfold passed yesterday. Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan was only 28. It is so sad to hear of anyone passing, let alone a famous person, and also someone so young.

The band has released a comment of his passing ""It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan. Jimmy was not only one of the world's best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy's family and we hope that you will respect their privacy during this difficult time."

So far the authorities say it is from natural causes. There will be an autospy. I will keep you updated as the story unfolds.

Make A Difference Monday #4 and #5

I apologize for not posting the one for last week. I was swamped with work.

For Make a Difference Monday number four, he takes a bunch of single mothers and treats them to a day spa, and treats their children to Chuck E' Cheese. He buys them tons of coins, pizza, and even cake. I think this one is one of his best. I could only imagine the struggles of a single mother raising a child. If anyone deserves a day off, it is a single parent. The kids really seemed to enjoy this

Here it is, Make a difference monday number four.

For the final Make a Difference Monday, Mr Chi City takes us through his life, and shows the places where he grew up. From where his friend was murdered, to where he showered when he was homeless. Describing everything so well it makes you realize how much he has been through. He opens up the doors of his life and lets you inside. This video was very motivational [as he hoped] and just is too much for words. Mr Chi City, I salute you and give you all of my respect. You are truly an inspiration.

I leave you the final Make a Difference Monday.

Brittany Murphy's Autopsy Results

After the autopsy was completed on Brittany Murphy, the corner found traces of many drugs.

Here is the list of drugs found in Murphy's body, according to Tmz.com:
Topamax (anti-seizure meds also to prevent migraines), Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory), Fluoxetine (depression med), Klonopin (anxiety med), Carbamazepine (treats Diabetic symptoms and is also a bipolar med), Ativan (anxiety med), Vicoprofen (pain reliever), Propranolol (hypertension, used to prevent heart attacks), Biaxin (antibiotic), Hydrocodone (pain med) and miscellaneous vitamins.

Many are also comparing her death to the death of Heath Ledger, who died of accidental overdose.

According to various sources, Brittany had a history of hypoglycemia and was hospitalized in April 2009 for low blood sugar while on location in Oregon." Brittany's husband, Simon Monjack, told the investigator during the 7 to 10 days prior to her death, Brittany complained of shortness of breath and severe abdominal pains but he was not overly alarmed because "she often suffered from severe menstrual pains."

Was it accidental overdose? Was it natural causes?
Stay tuned.

Twilight Home Town Gets It's Own Reality Show?

I have just been informed that Forks, Washington (where the twilight series takes place) will be getting their own TV show.
If you are an average reader of LLIOF, you will know our stand on the Twilight series.

I was reading my NewsFire [my rss feed client] and I saw that Perez Hilton had posted up a blog talking about this event, So I looked into it.

Overall, the city does not seem mad about it. The city also has "Twilight Points Of Interests" on a website, showing all of the local points for twilight. The city has went through and named some buildings like the movie. [E.X. The Cullen House, and so on]

Personally, I find this ridiculous. But for the city, it is a great way to attract visitors and get a good tourist income. So I am taking both accounts into play here. But also, this could get out of hand, increasing theft, vandalism, and so on in the city. I hope they thought of all of this before they agreed to be in the documentary "Twilight in Forks" or even in their own reality show.

A Week in Art #2

Sorry about the lack of updates. Finals suck.

Here now, is A Week in Art number two.

r h by Gnato

These two pictures above have been taken by the Deviantart user of Gnato. He has been one of my favorites for a good time now. His shots just capture the pure beauty and colors in the world. His photography skills are amazing. Possibly one of the best I have ever seen. Check out all of the work on his page.

The picture above comes from another Deviantart artist, that goes by the name of hiimlucifer. Another stunning photographer. The pictures she takes have such a depth to them.

Anyways, thats it for this week in art.

Music Videos

I just saw the damn near coolest thing I have seen in a while. My friend linked me to a music video of a band named Sour from Japan.

This music was also pretty interesting, but a good interesting.

In the video, they get a few of their fans (from the looks, around 20) and have them set up on a laptop webcam, and they just do some visually stunning effects and such with it. It will blow your mind.

Here is the video:

Now, that I posted that video, It also reminds me of the Weezer video for Pork and Beans.

The video for Pork and Beans features a tribute to many of the viral videos of the year.
The intro of the video also features a webcam style type intro.

Also, I am glad to say that Rivers Cuomo is getting better after his bus crash.

Taylor Swift, WTF!

This Guest Post was a rant contributed by Kaila P.

What is the world coming to? I went to yahoo! to check my email, and happened to take a glance at the “Today” box, which holds a list of current news and other things of that nature, and my jaw dropped. One of the top stories was called “Swift’s Sleek New Hairdo.” Seriously. It was an article about Taylor Swift straightening her hair. What the hell? Is this really what our nation is coming to? That one of the most important things on our minds is the new (crappy, if I do say so myself—she should stick with the curls: they make her look slightly less like an alien) hairstyle of yet another unoriginal teen artist? Needless to say, this slightly irritated me. I mean, there are so many other, much more important things that could be put in the news box, yet they’re talking about her hair. I really just don’t get it.

And on a separate, but not unrelated, note: what the hell is so great about Taylor Swift anyway? There really is nothing that makes her stand out from any other sappy teenage girl except for the fact that she happens to be ridiculously rich and famous for it. Her lyrics? Entirely cheesy and clichéd. Her live performances? Mediocre, at best. So why is she so famous? Two reasons: sappy teenage girls can “relate” to her crappy, sappy (that rhymed) lyrics and guys think she’s hot. That’s it. She’s an eh singer/songwriter who happens to be sort of pretty (I still think she looks like an alien…something in the eyes maybe). Period. End of rant.

A Week In Art #1

While I have been finishing up my semester in school, I've been rather busy. I decided to take the time out of my schedule to post up a blog.

I have found some pretty cool pieces of art most recently.

The first work of art is from Liu Bolin. An artist who makes a statement by camouflaging himself into an artwork to represent his environment. That was a sketchy description. Just watch the video over on yahoo. I find his artwork very interesting. My girlfriend actually told me about his work today. I hope to see more of it.

Yet another piece of art found from +KN. These are the stairs at Juliard. I found these very cool, of how they combined the leisure and relaxation of lounging, into a staircase, which is usually not though of that way.

I found this picture on tumblr through Shape+Colour. He was following one of the users who linked to this picture. I thought it was pretty cool.
It was the winner of the National Geographic's International Photography Contest 2009. I was also surprised to learn that this picture was not photoshopped at all.

That is all of the really cool art I've found this week. More art next week for A Week In Art #2

Make A Difference Monday #3

Mr Chi City is at it again.

This week in his Make A Difference Monday he gets his 'Al Gore On.' Basically, he goes through a dumpster and digs through trash and gathers up all of the recyclables. He does this as a tribute to Al Gore's efforts to help save the earth.
I can't wait to see what he will do next week.

The Common Stereotype

This is partially a rant, and also how school's have become corrupt. Or at least in mine.

This blog will probably loop and repeat it's self, but oh well. Just want to get my word out.
Note: I will be discussing very touchy topics. If you are very opinionated, or tender to your beliefs, then please skip this post.

Background
If you could not tell already, I do not like sports, or really anything. I am considered 'weird', 'emo', 'scene', or any of those types. I used to get bullied by 'Jocks" and still do to some amount. I don't overly try in school. Not because I'm not smart, I am a decently educated person, but not with schools. With computers, music, and those sorts of thing. I am just a artsy person by nature.

The Point
Here leads over the years of my schooling it seems that with the higher grade I get, the more teachers and schools become focused on school activities on sports and such. High school is my main example. So far I have noticed that teachers, or coaches, have been the less qualified teachers. I go to a high school that has a high standard with 'being the best' at really everything. I do personally believe that people who are in athletics get the upper advantage, or kids in AP classes, more then on the average joe student. The students also bitch and moan when their team loses, and when their team wins, they talk shit to other schools. I personally believe that schools shout not have sports and such, and just have the focus on education. Now, I personally am not a fan of learning, by any means. But I would rather read classic literature pieces like 'Of Mice and Men' then hear about last night's [insert sport name] game. They have already separated religion and schools, but in a way, they haven't. I still hear about teachers mentioning god, jesus, or any forms of religion, or anything in religious context. I do not care if people are religious. I myself am not. But anyways. I do believe that all sports should also be separated from the school systems to get the main focus more on education of students.

Clarifications
Now, I just want to get the following clear. This is just my personal opinion at this very moment. It might change in as little as an hour or so. I have no problem with people who play sports, or support their schools. I don't have school spirit whatsoever. Lastly, I have no problem with religion in any way, shape, or form. Whatever you want to believe is cool with me, and I respect what you believe.

Make A Difference Monday #2

Well, last week, I posted a blog about how MrChiCity3 was doing a thing called Make A Difference monday.

In this video he cooks up some food, and puts into containers, and goes out and gives it to homeless people, along with some cash. I thought this was just great, as well as his last video.

Well, here is Make A Difference Monday #2. (Sorry about the delay, school started back up after Thanksgiving break)

Make A Difference Monday

I just found out about something really cool that youtube user MrChiCity3 is doing.

It is called Make A Difference Monday. What he is doing is just doing a act of kindness to make a difference in someone's life.

In video number one (Posted on Nov. 23rd, 2009) he goes to Edna's Restaurant and stands up in the middle of his meal, and informs everyone that he is going to pay for their meal, even suggesting that they order more food. He also has the manager call up all of their waitresses and tips them individually. Each week he will make a new video where he does something to make a difference in someone's day.

If you want to donate to Make A Difference Monday, then head on over to www.snickertees.com and buy any t-shirt to help out.

Here is the video for Make A Difference Monday #1

Fakes in the media

What is wrong with these people...

Recently, Balloon Boy.
New, a girl says she was bitten by a 40 year old man at a twilight showing.
(Picture on right of the alleged Twilight Bite victim)

These people get their 15 seconds of fame, but then they come back down to earth by lying to our media. Now, I am not saying that every news story is a liar, but all of the media concerning younger people is starting to all be hoaxes. This right now is just a rant, but think about it. Should we really lie about stuff to get fame. [I mean, not all do it for fame, but it usually ends up that way.] Or should we mooch of others success by suing the shit out of them and taking everything they have. NO! We should not. Why cant everyone just find a way to make an honest living, and let stuff come as it does. Its not just people or kids, also bands and stuff. Yes, I realize this post is very bitter and uncaring of me, but its about time that these people get what they deserve.

Recap
Ballon Boy: Young kid 'goes up in an aircraft alone' in Colorado, then his parents 'find' him in an attic
Twilighter: A girl claims she was 'bitten' by a man in his 40's at a premier of the showing of new moon.

At least they all are getting what is coming to them.
Balloon Boy's parents are being investigated by the FAA, and also local authorities.
"The local authorities are already investigating Richard and Mayumi Heene for criminal behavior including influencing a public official and the delinquency of a minor."
-from Perez Hilton
Erin Westrate (Twilight Girl) now could be charged with filing a false police report.

Let me know what you think of fakes in the media with a @reply to liariceonfire on twitter.

Stop Animation

Stop Animation - the art of making still life, move. Well, generally speaking that is.

I have been a fan of this type of art for some time now, and I decided to write a blog about it, and show some of my personal favorite stop animation videos.

I am a fan of photography, Not really of people, but of just every day life, or amazing scenery. I love the way it captures the true colors of things and makes them stand out to help you realize how beautiful the world is. Past all of the modern junk like Politics, War, Pollution, and the works, there is a world all of its own. I love photographers that capture that. I also love how this can tie in with stop animation.

Stop animation is also similar to claymation (such as Gumby). Stop animation is usually pictures of things, frame after frame, and when played back, it looks like motion.

Here are some examples.
Some videos can be made to send a message.

Bottled Water, photographs by James Worrell from James Worrell on Vimeo.

Others can be for fun, or to do something you've never done before.

Twilight...

I read the book over 4 years ago. Then it got popular. Then it got extra popular. Then it just got blown way out of proportion.

I have been alright with the Twilight series for some while, not liking it, but okay with it. But now it has gone too far.

While I was making my breakfast, I decide to stroll through the Best Buy ad. In the movies, I see this..

Someone actually made a movie about Robert Pattinson.

In under 4 years of being a credited actor, he went from being Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter movies, to being one of the number one idol among teens.

Don't just think that I am jumping to conclusions. I loved the books, I watched the first movie, and was disappointed.

Lets backtrack. First twilight was a big hit, making [a rumored] $70.6 mil in its opening week.

The second Twilight movie. SPONSORED BY VITAMIN WATER.

No movie, I repeat, No movie, should be sponsored if its first one made over 70 million on its opening week.

Maybe I'm just being bitter, but Robert Pattinson has sold out big time.

Sitting here blogging about him isin't helping him get any less famous, but in a few years, no one will know who he is.

But thats okay, this blog is barely read by anyone.

If you, for whatever reason, want dirt on any Twilight member, be sure to check out Perez Hilton's website at www.Perezhilton.com.

Google Wave

I was one of the lucky people to get into the Google Wave trial, thanks to Corey Wells over at youquoted.com.

After a waiting period of around 3 days for my invite, I opened up google wave to see what I thought was one of the most innovative things I have seen.

Google Wave could be a big hit in schools for posting notes, pictures, or even just asking questions, and posting videos. It features the ability to imbed videos into the 'Wave' and also a playback feature.

I have not been able to test Google Wave to the fullest yet, but I plan to. The reason for that is...I have no friends who are in the Google Wave preview.
I will get back to you later on with more things on Google Wave. Please be patient until I write a better review for this.

I do know of Google Wave's full potential thanks to a video I saw on the web. (I forgot the original website)

Here is that video:

Comic Con Founder Dead at 76

A very sad thing in the world of comic book fans.
Shel Dorf, the founder of San Diego's annual comic book convention died to kidney failure yesterday.

I myself, watch the Comic-Con coverage back to back when it is on, looking up every game that I see that looks cool.
Though he has passed, Comic-Con will live on forever. I am sure of it. The force is strong with this one.

Bustyoureardrums is back up!

A while back I had a cd review blog called Bustyoureardrums...

Well, I am off of hiatus and now it is back up!

Dear Jack

This post is entitled Dear Jack for one simple reason.

Andrew McMohan started the band Jack's Mannequin in the year of 2004.
But in 2005, Andrew started feeling tired. He decided to visit his doctor.

Andrew was diagnosed with Leukemia.

Dear Jack is the story, his story, about his battle to make a full recovery of his leukemia.

Here are two of the trailers.

Just watching the trailer(s), it gives me shivers, and brings tears to my eyes.

The movie came out yesterday (November 3th, 2009).

In the summer of 2009, I had the once in a lifetime chance to see Jack's Mannequin live. It was an amazing experience to say the least.

Andrew McMohan is truly an inspiration.

TRV$DJAM - Fix Your Face Vol. 1 and 2

This post is going to be half review and half tribute. I will start out with my review

Upon hearing this for the first time, I was instantly impressed. Me being a drummer and Travis Barker being one of my major influences as a drummer. I also have played drums to rap songs for fun just messing around on my set. When I heard this, I clicked with it instantly. Gave it a listen through all the way, then another after that.

These mix tapes are both a solid flow of rap mixes, very well transitioned to one another, showing DJ AM's pure skill, and you can almost feel his passion for it by listening to how well he performs. As with Travis Barker, his skill is very well displayed in this tape. He adds his own touch to all of these songs.

The pure talent of Travis Barker and DJ AM together is insane. I realize I keep on repeating that over and over, but it is true.
I apologize for this being scattered, it just happens that way.

Download the mix tapes for free at trvsdjam.com

Website

Whelp.

I decided that I also wanted a website for this blog.
So, I made one. Designed it and such.

I also set up an e-mail account to contact me directly about the website
(sorry, its a long e-mail.)

(Yes its a sub domain, because I'm cheap and I don't pay for stuff like this.)

Also, I have updated some of the links on the side (to your right)
Check them out.

Poetry In Motion

I realize that the title is very cliche, but nothing else describes it better.

Over the years, I have taken interest in people doing amazing things.
Not like bench pressing 500 points. I don't find that amazing at all.
I mean stuff like Parkour, People doing tricks on bikes, or really just anything that the average person cannot do right off the bat.

What is Parkour?
Parkour, in my own definition, is making art with your body out of everyday objects. That is a bad definition.
Like, I cannot express this form of art with words. I can however demonstrate with video.

Parkour from Christopher Polydoroff on Vimeo.

That video was the best possible way to describe it in less then two minutes.

Other amazing things.

I know you may not think much of it, but Street bikers who do stunts and stuff, have also dedicated a lot of their time (and sometimes life) to perfect this.

To people doing this, keep on doing it. If you do this type of stuff, and want your video up on here, please just send me a link to the video through one of the ways to contact me on the LLIOF Links box on the right. I would be glad to put it up.

I will leave this post with a final video.

Happy Halloween.

I hope everyone had a good and safe Halloween.

Truly yours,
LLIOF

Vegetarianism

As many people will know, I am a vegetarian. By personal choice.

I get asked daily, Why I did it, and what do I eat.

The answers are simple.
I did it for the reason that many animals are tortured and beaten when in factories to be slaughtered.
Also to the fact that we over produce and breed these animals. We should just let them grow naturally, and not be overproduced by big industries.

As for what I eat, I eat everything except things with meat. Its not a hard concept to eat. You can take anything made of meat, and just take it off.
Nachos: Take off the meat, make them Bean Nachos. Pizza: Just get cheese pizza. Not a hard concept to get.

Many people say, "Oh I couldn't do that, I eat meat every day." Its just your state of mind. If you put your mind to it, and have enough personal will power to do something, then you can do it. One day, after I saw the following video, I set my mind to becoming a Vegetarian.

I have been a vegetarian for over a year and a half, I am still healthy, and I do not regret becoming one at all.

Here is a video made by Peta.org about the abuse that some of the animals go through in slaughter houses and places where they go before the meet the stores.

Now I should warn you, The following video contains graphic content.

Why many go vegetarian... from David Allen Cobb on Vimeo.

Playlist

Now I have a playlist.

All of the songs are ones I enjoy listening to.
I do listen to more music then that, but its all I could do since I cant stream my iTunes library to this blog.
Note: Playlist will auto play.

Template and Twitter

Finally done with the new template and setting up a LLIOF twitter.

The color theme is very cool, and I like it a lot.
Mix of hot a cool colors, to go along with the name.

Follow LLIOF on Twitter @liariceonfire.

In the beginning...

I tried starting my own music review blog a while back, but due to the effort I put into not instantly gratified, I deleted it.

This blog will be a personal blog, and also a music/movie/videogame/whatever blog.
